Description:
Bully beef tin, 3 x fragments. Fragment 1: Distinct corner. Probably base and side of tin. Impressed circle of bully beef tin evident. The rim protrudes behind straight edge. Base 2.5 x 2.5cm. Edge height is 1.8cm and 2.4cm wide. The rim is 0.4cm wide. Fragment 2: Flat oval shape. 3.6 x 2.8cm. Fragment 3: Probably part of rim with small section of base or side evident. 3.3 x 1.0 x 0.4cm. Fragment 4: Corner of can with small section of base remaining. 3.0 x 1.7 x 1.2cm high. Fragment 5: One edge folded back on itself. 2.5 x 1.6cm. Fragment 6: Small fragment, 1.3 x 1.2cm. Fragment 7: small fragment, 1.3 x 0.6cm. Fragment 8: small fragment. One edge folded back on itself. 0.9 x 0.8cm. Part of a large scatter of artefacts in an open, eroded area with low vegetation asssociated with trench F459 at the southern end of Pope's Hill. Documented via an intensive survey method.
