Description:
Unexploded shell. Significant ferrous oxidation. There was a white band around the base, 1.1cm wide, with grooves evident on the band. The inside of the shell was cleaned out and two metal shot balls were found in the soil inside (A273.1, A273.2). Dimensions: 16cm long x 6.9cm diameter. The thickness of the shell wall was 0.7cm. Found on ground surface in an area of wash/erosion downslope from F456 trench (outside of the intensive survey area).
