Description:
Trench leading from wide gully/trench F981 (Maori Pah gully) to the NE providing access to a series of dugouts. Trench is well-defined - wide with sloping sides. Covered with thick holly and other vegetation. Floor of trench is covered with thick leaf litter. The trench is L-shaped and leads up to dug-out F983. Found in an area has many dugouts and many other artefacts, alongside a large trench (Maori Pah gully or trench F981) leading up to the No.1 Outpost front line on the ridge above. Appears to have been an ANZAC back-of-line living area, possibly for the NZ Maori unit.
