Description:

Trench. A linear depression of medium-shallow depth. Overgrown with grass and shrubs and holly in some places. Rounded cross-section with an even, flattish floor. This may have been the first Turkish trench encountered by the Anzac troops on the 25th April landing. There is an eroded depression to the ast that may have been a position or dugout and a scatter of artefacts was documented here (F1008). They are food tins, bottle glass, metal fragments and indicate that Anzac troops occupied this feature.
