Description:
Shell case, intact. Large calibre (Howitzer?) shell. Large diameter metal cylinder with a recessed linear band around the base. Ferrous oxidation. There is heavy ferrous oxidation and spalling of large layers of oxidised metal that may have been from an outer layer of a different metal. The recessed band also appears to have a different type of oxidised metal. Part of artefact cache (F871) - all metal artefacts. Located under a bush on southern side of the New Zealand track amongst thick vegetation.
