Description:
Shell case. Small diameter metal cylinder with a recessed band around the base. There is heavy ferrous oxidation and corrosion with pitting of the surface and spalling of large layers of oxidised metal that may have been from an outer layer made of a different type of metal. The recessed band also appears to have a different type of oxidised metal. Part of artefact cache (F871) - all metal artefacts. Located under a bush on southern side of the New Zealand track amongst thick vegetation.
