Description:
A shallow and narrow linear depression that becomes deeper, wider and better preserved as it proceeds uphill towards the SE from Shell Green Cemetery. In the central section it is wide, of medium depth with steeply sloping sides and a flattish floor. It was possibly an approach trench. Vegetation is thick with rhododendrons and pine trees and leaf litter covers the trench floor. There is a junction to the SW amongst rhododendrons and other very thick vegetation. The trench turns to head NE around the side of the ridge top. There is a large, eroded area on the top of the ridge that is not well-defined and is poorly preserved. The trench here at the eastern end is very wide, with steeply sloping sides and a flat floor. At the eastern end there is thin, scrubby vegetation and low bushes in the eroded area and bare, gravelly soil is exposed in places. Dimensions near N end: 140cm wide at top; 50cm wide at base; 35cm deep. Dimensions in central section: 300cm wide at top; 160cm wide at base; 85cm deep. Dimensions near E end: 260cm wide at top; 200cm wide at base; 70cm deep. (Dimensions - Width 1: top; Width 2: base.)
